Grandparent’s Rights
Sometimes following a divorce or separation, grandparents find themselves being denied access to their grandchildren. Our team of specialist family law solicitors can help you negotiate reinstating contact. If necessary we can take action through the courts on your behalf.
Although grandparents don’t have an automatic legal right to see their grandchild, the court will usually recognise the importance of their presence in a child’s life.
Our first course of action would always be to try to negotiate directly with the parent who has custody of the child. We would also encourage mediation should the negotiations need it. Applying to the court for a child arrangement order on your behalf would be the last step in the proceedings. The court will always act in the best interest of the child.
If you are currently being denied access to your grandchildren and you would like our help, please contact one of our family law specialists who will be able to advise you.
